FLORIN TUDOR

Mona Vatamanu (Constanta, Romania, 1968) and Florin Tudor (Geneva, 1974) live and work together in Bucharest since 2000. Their working universe is an exploration of the visual, emotional and political aspects of architecture, in relation to a socio-political memory and their own personal experiences. Having grown up in a communist system, urban landscape represents a dramatic backdrop for which the many strata carry a political and a social signification. These urban sites can be interpreted as traces and signs dealing with life and telling stories through which political ideology and dictatorial control confront one another. Their most recent personal shows have included the BAK, Basis voor actuele kunst in Utrecht, Secession in Vienna, the Kunstverein Ludwigsburg and the Mercer Union in Toronto.
