ATENCIÓN! ALGUNAS VUELTAS MÁS PARA LLEGAR...

The images were part of the exhibition held by Vergara in the fall of 2007 in the Espai d’Art Contemporani de Castelló (ES). The exhibition consisted of eight semantic domains of objects and projections, including one recording of a performance by Vergara’s alter ego Straatman during a local meeting of the Partido Popular. These projections show Vergara following the cinematic images with a painting brush, as if he wanted to put down the images. However, the brush does not leave any mark behind it. By being aware of the impossibility of ’fixing’ reality, he reveals in this way his own position: Vergara aspires to relate himself as an artist to realities in motion. These realities cover many domains: politics, economics, media, culture... Similar to the way in which he positions himself in the world of art – attempting to embody constantly evolving reality – his alter ego Straatman performs in the context of a political meeting of the Partido Popular. The actual exhibition was, following on from one of the projections shown (the little cars from 1950s Spain which can be seen racing around in ’Biscuter’), considered to be a kind of circuit, and was intended to be recognizable as such from the museum’s first floor. The title refers to this: "Caution! Just a couple of rounds to go..."
