TEATRO MONTALBÁN

Images are shown of the Partido Popular party assembly in a theatre in Castelló. At the entrance, Vergara gave a performance as his alter ego Straatman (see also ’Atención! Algunas vueltas más para llegar...’) in 2007. When people try to leave the building, they come across Vergara, causing obstruction and commotion. By giving the performance in the context of a party assembly, and by putting the images in a video installation about the history of Spain, Vergara relates himself explicitly to that political history. Fragments of Los desastres de la Guerra by Francisco de Goya and of Rafael Alberti Merello (1902-1999) reading his poem La Paloma are also shown.
