FRONT-END: LAUNCH OF THE ONLINE MEDIA LIBRARY CATALOGUE
SPECIAL EVENT
Good news for students, researchers, curators and all other interested parties: Argos, Centre for Art and Media, is launching their brand-new website on 17 September, designed by Milk & Cookies. And thanks to the kindness of Xio from Ghent, the extensive media centre files are now accessible via an online database. This is a collection of more than 2000 audiovisual works (dating from the 1970s), and more than 3500 publications – including books as well as numerous catalogues and magazines. We will be showing-off this collection through events spread over four days. There is the exhibition Thinking in Loop and the lecture entitled Religion as Medium, by the philosopher, essayist and media theorist, Boris Groys. There is also the premiere of À Alexandre Sergueïevitch, the latest film by Marie André. On the big screen we are presenting Volte Face, a selection from the Argos collection, while in the Black Box Face to Face, a selection of videos from the Argos media centre on the theme of ‘face’, is running. And finally, the Brussels record label Sub Rosa is letting loose with electronic concerts by Charlemagne Palestine and James Whitehead, a dj-set by Guy-Marc Hinant, and, in the audio lounge, An Anthology of Noise & Electronic Music 1920-2007. The detailed programme for this four-day event can be found on www.argosarts.org.
