JAN FABRE, DIRIGENT VAN HET TOEVAL

Starting in the visual arts, Fabre was immediately attracted to other artistic disciplines: theatre, performance, installation art, action theatre, dance and opera. Over the last 15 years Fabre, quintessentially a performance artist, has become a 'director of coincidence', as he himself puts it. In this portrayal, Scholten interviews specialists on Fabre’s oeuvre and cuts this with archival material from some of his creations, including the ballet Quando la Terra Si Rimetto in Movimento (1995) and the one-act play Forgery As It Is, Unfalsified (1992). This film also contains unique rehearsal registrations with dancer Valerie Valentine and actor Els Deceukeleir.
