EASTWESTEAST

In 'EASTWESTEAST' (a slideshow that has been transferred to digital video), Ria Pacquée compiles images of—often conspicuous—people in the street that have been photographed from the back. In various countries (including Belgium, India, France and Mali), Pacquée has shot very colourfully dressed women and men. Edited over a soundtrack of footsteps, barking dogs and the noise of traffic, the long series of images blurs the supposed differences between East and West. Is this Asia, Africa or Europe?
