LE CORPS VERBAL: UN VOYAGE DANS L'UNIVERS DE MARCEL MOREAU (COURT-MÉTRAGE)

The writings of the francophone Belgian writer Marcel Moreau (°1934, Boussu) are little known to the larger audience. Although he is considered a marginal writer with an idiosyncratic, instinctive, both organic and lyrical style, he is the author of a considerable body of work. Case and de Tervarent made this short but sparkling portrait that shows the writer in his daily environment. ‘Le Corps Verbal: un voyage dans l'univers de Marcel Moreau (court-métrage)’ starts with the writer speaking in his Paris’ living room/study, which is decorated with dozens of paintings and photographs, musical instruments and a stuffed bull’s head, his “ami de tous les jours”. In this film, we follow the writer and thinker on an intimate trajectory, which Case and de Tervarent film from a respectful distance, through his private sphere while he speaks and philosophises about his love for writing and literature, everyday life and his physical handicap. “Il ne suffit pas de bien vivre, il faut bien mourir aussi.”
