MARIAGE

In Mariage, Caroline Cereghetti follows an entire family during a wedding. The whole family is ready for the major event, they wait for the future bride, then, they go to the ceremony, followed by the dinner and the party. This silent video is a study of gestures, the attitudes, and the spaces that make out the human condition, the hierarchical relations within a family. The black-and-white images are combined with a filmic aesthetics that recalls the surveillance cameras and that alternates details and wider shots.
