PANAMARENKO, ANTWERPEN 1940
In a gallery in Bergeyk (the Netherlands) young Panamarenko elucidates on Donnerwolke (1971) and other models of flying objects. The result is an image of Panamarenko the dreamer, the small boy who likes to put together abstract puzzles, trying to get a grasp on how things work, on the infinite universe of miraculous variations. In the report he light-heartedly demonstrates, starting out from the flying behaviour of insects and birds, the principles of aerodynamics, the mechanisms to start up propellers and bring wings to flutter. To him beauty is in the building blocks, not in the manual. Part of the BRT (Belgian radio and television broadcast network) television series ’Openbaar Kunstbezit’ (Public Art Heritage).
