PAUL CHAN - TIN DRUM TRILOGY

Paul Chan (b.1973) lives and works in New York. Chan’s work in video and digital art has been exhibited worldwide for the past several years. And he has lectured and taught at several art schools and institutes in the US. In 2002, Chan was a part of the American aid group Voices in the Wilderness that broke US sanctions and federal law by working in Baghdad before the U.S. invasion and occupation. During this stay he filmed Baghdad in no particular order, an ambient video essay on every day life in Baghdad while awaiting another war. Re:the_operation brings the war back to the US of A. This movie explores the sexual and philosophical dynamics of war through the partly fictionalized lives of some members of the Bush administration. Now promise now threat plunges into the heartland of Redneck America. Interviews with the habitants of a small town in Nebraska are mixed with kidnapping videos from Iraq.
