JAMES BENNING - EASY RIDER
SCREENING
The work of James Benning often establishes a dialogue with the american landscapes and it’s characterized by long static takes. Benning’s second remake of an American classic follows his version of John Cassavetes’ Faces (1968) last year. Considered as one of the most iconic works for his generation, Easy Rider (1969) has been reworked in a way that the scenes of the Dennis Hopper’s movie are replaced by static shoots of the same venues where Hopper filmed in 1969.
"My Easy Rider tries to find today’s counterculture (if one exists) by replacing the 1960s music with music that I listen to today".
