ROMAN SIGNER - TISCHE MIT VENTILATOREN, TISCH MIT KAMERA

Along with the survey of Signer’s Aktionen-films two of his works are shown in the exhibition space in the basement of Etablissement d’en face. In the video film Tisch mit Kamera (2001) Signer turns us into witnesses of an experiment with familiar ingredients from his artistic vocabulary: a table, with an explosive charge attached to it along with a camera, is floating down a tiny river. The recordings of this ‘second’ camera take us along on an unreal odyssey. The installation Tische mit Ventilatoren (2004) consists of four tables, hung from the ceiling in their centre, and as many radiators, switching on and off, causing the tables to revolve on their axes in a dazzling ballet mécanique.
