VIETNAM

Vostell returns on the theme of war in 'Vietnam'. This film consists of manipulated images from a television report on the war in Vietnam. The images were filmed directly from the television screen with a Super 8 camera: seven minutes of blurred images of a soldier amidst a fire/gunbattle. The sound is harrowing and illustrates particularly well a point Marshall McLuhan made: the media subtly manipulate in- formation. (Berta Sichel)
