LE WEEK-END DU DOC: OLIVIER DEKEGEL - ROND EST LE MONDE

Argos takes part in the forth edition of Le Week-end du Doc !
The initiative of the Centre du Cinéma et de l’Audiovisuel in Brussels takes place from November 17th to 20th and aims to promote the diversity and specific character of the Belgian documentaries. Along with the screening of the last documentary La deuxième nuit (2016) by Eric Pauwels and listening session in collaboration with the Atelier de Création Sonore Radiophonique (ACSR), Argos presents the recent film Rond est le monde (2013) by Olivier Dekegel.

Olivier Dekegel (1970) has been making films since the early ’90. All his films are made on Super 8 or 16mm, and they always oscillate between documentary and experimental approach. Simultaneously to his filmmaking, he has been practicing photography for many years. A confidential work from which he hopes to come up with a book, but which recently delivered us Ronde est le monde (The World is round, 2013). In the company of a mule and a Super8 camera, the filmmaker walks through the world enchanted by the beauty of all things. Inspired by Saint Francis of Assisi's "Praise of the Creatures", an enlightened and candid contemplation driven by the changing light of seasons. The film is an invitation to a voyage, a voyage around the world with the most simple and humble of all animals, the donkey. Donkeys invent time, a form of non-action propitious for contemplation. Rond est le monde is an invitation to cast a glance at all things in a simple, humble and delicate way. A glance that is so fragile that it becomes a joy, a delightment. It is the glance the “idiot” would cast, that of the Franciscan monks filmed by Rossellini in Francesco giullare di Dio, that of Prince Myshkin or Alyosha Karamazov in Dostoevsky's novels. These references are only implicit in the film, explaining them would have betrayed the simplicity of a film which is simple only in appearance. No action, no suspense or accident, just the slow evolution of seasons, but yet the complex and finite conception of a world : the world as a child would draw it, round.

Daily screened every hour from 11am to 6pm.
NB: on Saturday 19th of November, screened from 11am to 4pm.

Argos participe à la quatrième édition du Week-end du Doc !
L'initiative du Centre du Cinéma et de l’Audiovisuel se déroule du 17 au 20 novembre afin de mettre à l’honneur la diversité et la spécificité du documentaire belge. En plus de la séance du dernier film d'Eric Pauwels La deuxième nuit (2016) et la séance d'écoute organisée en collaboration avec l’Atelier de Création Sonore Radiophonique (ACSR), Argos présente le film Rond est le monde (2013) d'Olivier Dekegel! 

Un cinéaste, en compagnie d’un âne et d’une caméra super 8, traverse le monde et s’enivre de la beauté de toutes choses. Douce contemplation des simples, un voyage intérieur, entre le visible et l’invisible, porté par la lumière changeante des saisons.

Projeté tous les jours une fois par heure de 11h à 18h.
