LES FRÈRES PIQUERAY

This documentary revolves around the twin brothers Gabriel and Marcel Piqueray, two avant-garde authors. Gabriel doesn’t like to talk in front of the camera, so it’s Marcel that is being interviewed the most. He talks about their youth, travels and contacts with avant-garde artists like Marcel Lecomte, Paul Colinet, Christian Dotremont etc. Marcel reads out loud poems and stories written by his brother and him. Photographs, drawings and paintings by Pierre Alechinsky, Pol Bury and Armand Parmentier are being shown. Another passion of the brothers is jazz music. Colinet shoots images of Marcel dancing and humming to famous jazz tunes. The interviewee also uses the opportunity to correct a few misconceptions about the Piquerays, especially about the conception that their writing is surrealist.
