COUPURE

This short fragment is part of a collaborative work, consisting of short films made by the Belgian video artist group CAP, founded in 1972 by Jacques Lennep. Members of CAP were Pierre Courteois, Michel Gehain, Gilbert Herreyns and Pal Horvath. The group was active until 1982. In 1974, Pierre Courtois contributed to the non-traditional group project in 1974 with “Coupure”. This film is a compilation of Courtois’ predilection of conceptual land art. Views of the typical Belgian landscape are affected by the concept of cutting something in various ways: blocks of wood being chopped, a knife cleaving the grass, a white strip separating two parcels of nature…
