DAVE'S GREAT IDEA

A portrait of the Scottish guitarists/musicians Dave Robertson and Craig Ward. The camera — hand-held most of the time — follows the musicians very closely. The film begins with the two men still asleep. Later they roam the inner city of Antwerp, looking for kicks to dispel boredom. Whereas the editing of the film makes conscious use of repetitions—as if the film were a scratched record—the music of the Antwerp band Lionell Horrowitz & His Combo creates a sultry, compelling, somewhat nervous and pleasantly anarchist atmosphere.
