THE CIRCLE OF MAROKKO 2004

From up-close, Pacquée films a craftsman in the streets of Marrakesh. Seated on the ground, he is making circles in round rusty plates. Without further explication – the sound on the piece is the one of a nearby goldsmith hammering – the viewer is left alone with this enigmatic, slightly disturbing image. Here as well, Pacquée deals with everyday life, embracing all that is encompassed by it including what may be seen as relative, as left-out or even as odd.
