THE BLACK LAMB

'The Black Lamb' is an online film project started in 2011 by artist and filmmaker Els Dietvorst. 

'The Black Lamb' final unfolds over a three-year period (2011-2014) with seasonal updates. In this fourth and final update, Dietvorst tracks the lives of seven local characters from the Irish countryside, focusing on their work and their relationships with their animals. She captures mementos from her own reality, as a sheepfarmer in Southeast Ireland, with fleeting glimpses into the worlds of her neighbours. Individual stories in this remote, rural location are interwoven with larger universal issues such as globalization, food production, emigration and biodiversity.

The material of 'The Black Lamb' ultimately form the basis of a larger projec 'The Rabbit and the Teasel'.
