PARKING 2004

Aurore Dal Mas is fascinated with the vocabulary that is used in popular music, as a peculiar reflection by and on mankind. Before this she made ‘Show Room’, a pseudo-autobiographical video clip based on a song by Julio Iglesias. The sweet, sensuous words take on a preposterous and cynical undertone in the mouth of a postiche chansonnier. In ‘Parking 2004’ the camera wanders through a gloomy, underground parking lot, where a lonely young man is singing the chorus from ‘Love Me Tender’ at the top of his voice in a game of questions and answers with the cameraman. A fragile declaration of love to a shadow of the imagination in a cold and unfamiliar world.
