THOMAS HEISE - SONNENSYSTEM
SCREENING - ÉCRAN D'ART
Since 1983, Thomas Heise (1955) has worked as a free-lance writer and director in the areas of theatre, audio drama and documentary. Born on the east side of Berlin, capital of the German Democratic Republic, all of his documentary efforts were either blocked by what was – in official jargon – called ’operative means’, destroyed or confiscated. His works encompass a wide range of contemporary and socially relevant topics such as privatisation, unemployment and rightwing radicalisation. Within his video Sonnensystem, he displays the habitants of the indigenous community Kollas of Tinkunaku, who are imbedded within the north part of the province Salta (Argentina). Non-verbally, exclusively through images Sonnensystem functions as a tableau vivant where a main role is dedicated to the ever-changing landscape. Edited in a steady pace, the viewer is confronted with the citizens of this small indigenous community and it’s day-to-day disappearance.
