Bruce Conner interprets the assassination of President Kennedy with fragments from news footage and radio broadcasts. His manipulation of the contrast between black and white frames on the one hand and length and rhythm of the consecutive images on the other results in a sensorial game which causes a feeling of perpetual flux. As a result of those effects the spectator becomes aware of his own role in ‘making’ a film, of the way in which the mind puts together fragments in a continuum. Report is not, as the title indicates, about the murder itself, but about the way it is mediatised and the extensive emotional and cultural repercussions of the event.

Een episodisch en fragmentair filmessay over tijd, geheugen en de manier waarop een enkel moment het verleden en de toekomst kan consumeren. Twee verhalen zijn gecentreerd rond personages die leven in het hier en nu, in een ad-hoc toestand. Een vrouw die eensklaps overbodig wordt, kan niet genieten van de tijd die ze eerder niet had. Een regisseur wordt blind tijdens het draaien van een film, maar blijft werken op basis van de beeldbibliotheek in zijn geestesblik. De film onthult barsten in de syntaxis van de cinematografische “suspension of disbelief”.
