ALKAIOS SPYROU

Alcaeus Spyrou is a filmmaker living and working in The Hague, Netherlands. His interest lays in observing spaces of financial violence. Through documenting these landscapes, the violence imposed on them is unveiled. These stories are then assembled into films that combine fiction and non-fiction, forming a mythology of neoliberal policies. Heavily influenced by cinema in the turn of the century, montage drives the narrative forward in search of new experiments in storytelling. Alcaeus’s work has been widely presented in international exhibitions such as the Biennale Internationale de Casablanca, Liverpool Biennial, Bloomberg New Contemporaries, Whitechapel Gallery, London; South London Gallery, London; European Media Art Festival, Mediterranea, Athens Avant Garde Film Festival, IndieLisboa International Film Festival, Istanbul International Experimental Film Festival and Prague Short Film Festival among others.
