JANA COOREVITS
Jana Coorevits’ artistic practice is situated at the intersection of experimental film, photography, and visual art. She delves into issues surrounding femininity, vulnerability, and trauma. In recent years, her focus has been on finding ways to speak about personal and collective experiences of sexual violence through artistic work. This research translated into works that evoke stillness and sensory contemplation, giving voice to what cannot be expressed in words. She plays with the way changing light reveals an intuitive tension between perception and registration, between appearance and imagination.
She holds a MA in audiovisual arts (LUCA School of Arts, Brussels). In collaboration with Charlotte Van den Broeck, she worked as an artistic researcher (Royal Conservatoire Antwerp) on the project Aarduitdrijvingen/Peak: A visual investigation of ‘Gendered Landscape’. She is part of URSULA collective and represented by Fred & Ferry Gallery (Antwerp).
