WIDEAWAKE [RECORDING PERFORMANCE @ ARGOS]

Language, written and spoken, is at the centre of Barry’s practice and in another new work she reveals her desire to make her work "visual and verbal at the same time". ‘Wideawake’, a monologue written and directed by Orla Barry and performed by Caroline Donnelly, features a disoriented young woman in high heels, walking, strutting and tripping on a narrow platform, the flow of her words represents a meeting of the conscious and the unconscious mind as she is lost both physically and mentally in a series of spiralling movements and sentences.
Performed at Argos, September 7 2002.
